But the video of it is not made and released, even though it contains very descriptive and powerful message. The track is getting huge vibes these days as the same has been featured in Episode 2 of Coke Studio Season 5. We have also seen and watched Atif Aslam singing the track LIVE in his concerts, but not many people have watched him actually lip syncing, acting and dancing on the song. So, this video which we gonna share with you guys today shows “not-just-another-performance” by Atif Aslam but its something which many of us perhaps missed earlier. The performance is from some TV show that is hosted by the gorgeous Mahira Khan and the creative Adnan Malik. The Popularity of Pakistani Music in India Posted: 23 May 2012 12:33 AM PDT Earlier, it was difficult to make a clear distinction between Pakistani music and Indian music. This difference came several years after Indian independence. But until then, Bollywood music sounded through every Pakistani home, while ghazals were popular in most Indian houses. In India, qawwalis and ghazals have always been, and continue to be extremely popular. The rise of Pakistani Music in IndiaThe Sufi influence in Pakistani music is irreplaceable and quite strong. It is especially apparent in the qawwali, which was invented in the 13th century by Amir Khusro. Pakistani music can be divided into two areas – core music and fusion music. Qawwalis, Sufi music and ghazals fall under the core music, while rock, pop and modern Sufi music come under fusion category. Contemporary Pakistani music is a rage in India and the artists are extremely popular. This large market in India was initially created by Nazia Hasan, who was a pioneer in Pakistani pop. ‘Aap Jaisa Koi’ is one of the singer's most popular songs. Vital Signs, Pakistan’s first pop band, accounts for the recent popularity of Pakistani music in India. The band’s debut album released in 1989 was the beginning of a new generation of Pakistani music, which would soon gain recognition across borders. In the meanwhile, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan transformed his style and created music more in line with current trends. He finally entered Bollywood and created an even larger market for Pakistani Music. The trend set by Vital Signs was carried forward by Ali Haider, who made songs that appealed to the middle-class college student. The bass paired with the emotional content is what carried his music through. Popular Pakistani bands with large fan following in IndiaJunoon is a band that made its mark in India through Sufi rock. Azaadi (1997) and Inqilaab are two of their biggest hits. Contemporary Sufi music experienced one of its most indulgent phases in India with the coming of this band. Strings, another popular Pakistani band, released its first album in 1992, but saw success 8 years later. Their second album titled Duur, resonated through the radio and television channels across India. The trail set by these musicians continues to thrive with the likes of Atif Aslam, Call, Jal and Ali Zafar. Several of these artists are finding patrons in Bollywood and the others have a large fan following of music lovers. Their music twines Pakistani appeal with catchy tunes that are relevant to a mass audience. These musicians blend pop, rock, ghazals, eastern classical and Sufi music seamlessly.

Strings become First Pakistani Band to get VEVO Account on YouTube Posted: 22 May 2012 09:36 AM PDT Strings Band becomes the very first Pakistani Band to acquire a VEVO account on YouTube. Vevo (stylized as VEVO) is a music video website, management and distribution company. Its a joint venture among the biggest record label companies of the World namely Sony Music Entertainment, Universal Music Group, and Abu Dhabi Media. Earlier Warner Music Group was also hosting its content on VEVO but due to some conflicts it left the joint venture. Most of the videos by Strings Band have been transferred to their new account StringsVEVO where now VEVO will take care, manage and distribute the band’s music online & worldwide. Currently, the account StringsVEVO has 8 videos in it with its original quality, upload date and comments intact. It is worth mentioning here that Vevo’s Official website vevo.com is currently available only in the US, Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. When Visitors from other Countries try to open the site, they are greeted with the following message:
On the other hand, Most of Vevo’s videos on YouTube are viewable by users in other countries, while others will produce the message “This video contains content from Vevo, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds”. Currently, StringsVevo has a total of 8 videos and all are watch-able by viewers in Pakistan except the 3 music videos; Dhaani, Humsafar and Koi Aanay Wala Hai. All the 3 mentioned music videos are restricted to Pakistani audience for don’t know what reasons. Vevo hasn’t really given any benefit to Strings yet, but the game would start when Strings Band’s next commercial music video will be released via their Vevo account. Vevo will then come into action and distribute and syndicate the music video to its huge network. Vevo currently manages the YouTube accounts of all singing stars like Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Eminem, Linkin Park etc. Its the very first time that a Pakistani Band has made it to Vevo. We hope and wish other Pakistani Bands and Artists also make it to Vevo and take their music to a whole new level. Update: A couple of fans on our facebook page have reported that Strings have that VEVO account since long. We would like to inform and confess that this post resulted due to the “tip” sent to us quite recently by multiple sources. The author of this post, who has been covering local music industry since long, wasn’t even aware of this development. Upon inquiring it has come into our attention, that Strings still manages its own account “StringsOnline” and “StringsVEVO” is actually a result of the band’s deal with “Sony BMG Music Entertainment (India) Pvt. Ltd” P.S the post might not be “News worthiness” but it was worth covering as Google had no clue about “Strings Vevo Account” This post, Strings become First Pakistani Band to get VEVO Account on YouTube , was originally published at PakiUM.com |
