London Paris New York recovers 7.5 crore in first week

The Fox Star Studios & Rose Movies fresh rom-com, London Paris New York, released on 3rd of March is a delightfully unconventional movie, as acclaimed trade analyst and critic Taran Adarsh puts it. With a steady but encouraging opening, the movie has managed to collect over 7.5 crore in the opening week.

Unlike usual Bollywood rom-coms that have a hotchpotch of characters, London Paris New York relies heavily on conversational relationship of two individuals in three meetings. The leading couple of the movie, Ali Zafar & Aditi Rao are the only major characters which makes this movie something more than an average standard rom-com. The film’s deviation from the ordinary, shorter length and refreshingly new concept is already getting thumbs up from fans & critics. Last week Karan Johar, Abhishek Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan tweeted about the film calling it “a movie to fall in love with”. The film’s music, directed and produced by Ali Zafar, is also talk of the town with 3 songs already listed in top 10 charts.

Urban youth, is responding well to the film which can be guaged by the fact that Sunday showed a hike in figures as compared to the opening Friday. This low budget film that was targeted at a niche market has already recovered its initial cost. The CEO of Fox, Vijay Singh, confirmed to IBN live “Well on its way to recovering its investment, the film that was made on a budget of Rs 7 crores has already grossed Rs 7.5 crore worldwide over the weekend”.

Shaan Will Co-Host a Morning Show on Geo TV with Nadia Khan

We reported a day ago that Nadia Khan will be hosting a Morning Show on GEO TV. Things were slightly unconfirmed and little did we know that there was another surprise coming with Nadia Khan.

Recently, Geo has hired a new morning show attraction for audience by getting Shaan to co-host along with Nadia Khan, who had done morning shows for the television before. He is reportedly being paid a salary of Rs.5 million a month for it according to an official person working at the channel. The morning show is scheduled to begin soon.

The show would replace Dr. Shaista Wahidi, who was already popular with the viewers. She herself was the replacement of Nadia Khan. The reason for bringing Shaan on the project was to maintain viewership and to do something different.

On part of Shaan, it seems that he has decided to enter a new arena. He is already playing a lead role in Pakistan’s most anticipated and heavy budget movie – Waar. Since he is already well-established as an actor in Pakistani film industry, which though does not do well, but there is no doubt about Shaan's performance and dedication. He is well-received and well-respected for his work and talent. It will be interesting to see him hosting a morning show.

Ufone Uth Records 2.0 Introduces Affaq Mushtaq with Episode Three

[Pakistan – Monday 05th March, 2012] Following Ufone Uth Records 2.0artist Jarar Malik, this week the televised youth music platform is set to feature talented artist Affaq Mushtaq on the 10^thof March 2012.

A resident of Rawalpindi, Affaq has previously worked as a session musician at ATV and also as a singer on PTV and currently performs at Monal, an Islamabad based restaurant along with his brother.Affaq Mushtaq will be performing 'Angunn' at Ufone Uth Records 2.0,an original composition of his father the late Master Mushtaq, who was a music composer for PTV. For 'Angunn', Affaq Mushtaq is accompanied by iconic guitarist Amir Zaki and drummer extraordinaire Louis J'Gumby' Pinto on drums, in addition to singing, theversatile Affaq also plays the Tabla, Flute, Keyboard, Harmonium& Guitar.

Speaking about Affaq Mushtaq on the Ufone Uth Records platform Akbar Khan – Chief Marketing Officer at Ufone said: "Through Ufone Uth Records 2.0 Episode Three, we have endeavoured to showcase the diverse talents of Pakistan's youth – Affaq is distinct from a lot of youth based artists as his music has very strong traditional influences. We look forward to giving him the much deserved boost to break into the music industry with his track 'Angunn'."

Speaking about working with Affaq, producer of Ufone Uth Records, Louis J 'Gumby' Pinto said: "Affaq is a certainly our pride on the Ufone Uth Records 2.0 platform. Pakistan once again will experience a child prodigy on the show. His capability as a musician and musicianship is undeniable. An excellent singer, songwriter, keyboard player and tabla player. A complete musician and yet very humble; It was a pleasure for us at Ufone Uth Records to be documenting and recording him on the show. We hope the best for him and look forward to hearing more of Affaq in the future."

On his experience at Ufone Uth Records Studio, Affaq has said: "I am pleased to be performing at Ufone Uth Records 2.0 alongside the likes of Aamir and the Uth Records team. Though I consider myself a decent singer/musician, I also believe that learning from others is an important step for self-improvement."
