MSN Pakistan steals content from Local Blogs and Bloggers (Proof)

Posted: 20 Feb 2012 09:23 AM PST

By

This is the third part of the series, Read my earlier two posts before starting this one.

Part 1. Pakistani Blogs Shamelessly copying content from Pakium

Part 2. Dear Bloggers, did you get the call from MSN Pakistan? I got !

So, I was hurt that our original written content was being copied (without any permission) and that too on a big portal like MSN Pakistan. Now you guys will be saying what actually is wrong with me and why I am accusing such big entity for plagiarism. So to prove my allegations, I have collected all the evidences and all the posts that have been ripped on MSN Pakistan. Not only mine, but of many other Pakistani Blogs and publications.

Lets start with Pakium content that is being used without permission:

Go to PK.MSN.COM/NEWS and at the right sidebar, see the "Most Viewed” section:

You'll find two posts there that you have already first seen or read on Pakium. These are:

On number 1: Mathira Naked Photoshoot for Valentines Day

On number 4: Pakistani Morning TV Shows or mourning shows? (guest post first published on Pakium)

“Oh yes, we read that first on Pakium. So what ? It is also possible that you guys are ripping content off MSN and accusing them for doing the same.” Okay my friends, now lets go to the big daddy for help.

I searched on google for the post title, "Mathira Naked Photoshoot" and here are the results:

Mathira Naked Photoshoot google search

Today when I am writing this, its 20th February and Google in the screenshot above tells that Pakium posted the article on 12th Februrary. Statestime and then PK MSN published it 6 days ago, so 19-6 = 13

PK MSN posted it on 13th February i.e a day after the post was actually published on Pakium. See on PK MSN SITE

http://pk.msn.com/news/entertainment/alqamar/2012/february/12798746/mathira-naked-photoshoot-for-day.aspx

Now read the whole text and compare it with this one:

http://www.pakium.com/2012/02/12/mathira-photoshoot-valentines-day

Also, on PK MSN Site check the blunder Mr. H did. After the last line,

"Without further ado, here is Mathira holding red rosses with a hot man."

He forgot to post the picture there OR may be didn’t read the last line of article. Now you can understand the skill level of Mr. MSN Pakistan Editor

Let's move forward

There are many more posts from various other local blogs/publication that have been SYNDICATED on MSN Pakistan without any permission or courtesy. I will only be giving reference for "Entertainment" category

Actress Meera alleges shoaib akhtar of stalking:

Origianl: http://www.filmyfair.com/bollywood-news/actress-meera-alleges-shoaib-akhtar-of-stalking/

Posted on PK MSN: http://pk.msn.com/news/entertainment/alqamar/2012/february/12971267/meera-alleges-shoaib-akhtar-stalking.aspx

Lets take a look onto their back up blog from where they transport the content to PK MSN

Here is the site: Statestimes.net

Navigate to entertainment section and you will be find there:

Koolmuzone's list of top covers got ripped:

Original : http://www.koolmuzone.pk/2012/02/top-pakistani-covers-from-2011-part-2-of-2/

Copied on Statestimes: http://www.statestimes.net/2012/02/top-pakistani-covers-from-2011-part-2-of-2/

Pakistan Today’s Story regarding “Ayesha Baksh wedding” got ripped:

Original: http://www.pakistantoday.com.pk/2012/02/tv-anchor-ayesha-bakhsh-marries/

On Statestime: http://www.statestimes.net/2012/02/tv-anchor-ayesha-bakhsh-ties-the-knot/

On PK MSN: http://pk.msn.com/news/entertainment/alqamar/2012/february/12920859/anchor-ayesha-bakhsh-ties-the-knot.aspx

Look at the formatting Mr. Editor did for Ayesha Khan post

First , he copy pasted the WHOLE NEWS from Pakistan Today, after that he posted her WHOLE BIOGRAPHY and then uploaded and added all the pictures found from internet, under the post.

WOW this is how the content is generated, formatted and published on MSN Pakistan.

ProPakistani's post on "Adult Sites got banned in Pakistan":

Original: http://propakistani.pk/2012/02/10/pakistan-blocked-13000-adult-websites-official/

Copied on MSN Pakistan: http://pk.msn.com/news/entertainment/alqamar/2012/february/12798744/pakistan-blocked-13000-adult-websites.aspx

Hence, Proved !

Now it has been proved that content is being pulled off from local blogs and being published on a big portal like MSN Pakistan. But why the hell, some Mr. H, Statetimes and Al-Qamar are getting all the credit. They should have some know-how about the work they have been doing. They are STEALING content that too for a reputable online entity like MSN. Online media don't really work this way.

What I have understood is that Statestimes OR Mr. H has a deal with MSN Pakistan or MSN Arabia to bring them "localized stuff". To provide the giant with localized stuff, they are moving here and there like bots and scrapping local stuff without even approaching the owners for permission of syndication.

They must be making huge money out of this deal. But WHY THE HELL they are not spending money to HIRE PROPER BLOGGERS and pay them off for their unique content produced.

Irony here is also that Pakistani Telecom and advertising Companies are also supporting and advertising on MSN PAKISTAN NEWS Page. I am not sure which digital media agency is placing and booking ad for MSN Pakistan News Page, but they should send a warning notice to them for serving plagiarized content to the visitors of MSN Pakistan.

What’s Next ?

Ahh… I now feel a bit relaxed after bringing out all my wrath. Now, my next move is to File a DMCA notice against MSN Pakistan so that the folks at MSN HQ can get to know what's actually happening at their portal. I will also be pitching all the local publishers whose content is being ripped. A Few of them are Pakistan Today, Express Tribune, ProPakistani and Koolmuzone.

Disclaimer:  I am not just doing this for myself OR my blog. Pakistani Blogs and publishers are already in watch-list in the books of Google Adsense for plagiarizing and then trying to monetize the content. Lets take this opportunity to aware all our Pakistani Youth and new publishers about the consequences of Copy-Pasting.

Enough is Enough now! Write your own For God Sake !

Dear Bloggers, Did you get Call from MSN Pakistan? I got!

Posted: 20 Feb 2012 06:14 AM PST

Call from MSN PakistanA couple of days before, (just before when I wrote Pakistani Blogs shamelessly copying content from Pakium)  I got a phone call from MSN Pakistan. Did you get that ? MSN PAKISTAN ! Yeah think how big it would be. The guy introduced himself to me as THE EDITOR OF MSN PAKISTAN. My instant question was: Which MSN Pakistan ? he said “the official one” I said there is also one MSNPakistan.com which is not in any way associated with the Giant. But he insisted that he is from the “official one”. I hinted that if he is talking about PK.MSN.com that opens by default in Internet Explorer Browser. He said "oh yeah, you have got it right".

Anyhow, the guy said that he had got my phone number from "someone" in a “Youth conference in Islamabad” . I named a guy, to whom I imagined, can recommend me in conference. He said NO NO and changed the topic. He started with :

"we are looking for some online writers who can contribute to our great portal(MSN PAKISTAN). We need the voice of youth and their write ups, so I was just wondering if you can write for us on any topic ranging from Politics to Economy of Pakistan. Whatever you choose!. "

Now I was confused as if someone had given that guy my number, but didn't introduce me or atleast told him that I actually belong to Entertainment and Blogging industry and I have nothing to do with other topics such as Politics and Economy etc. Then he said that its upto you to submit your articles whether on daily basis, weekly or monthly. We will then edit and if possible feature on the page of MSN Pakistan.

I asked curiously, Do you even know about my own website ? What I run ? he said, NO what's that ? I said its pakium.com and you should visit it right now to understand that I am not just a wanna be blogger or some one who is running a blogspot blog.

During this telephonic conversation, I also went to MSN Pakistan (PK.MSN.COM) and clicked on its Entertainment section. The stories that were covered there had nothing to do with Pakistan or its entertainment industry. It was flooded with Hollywood and Bollywood Stories. I thought it would be a good chance and platform to add Pakistani Entertainment News onto a reputable online publication like MSN.

MSN Pakistan Homepage

I asked the "MSN Pakistan Editor" that yes I am willing to write articles exclusively for your publication. But I want you to place my intro/Bio at the end of my article (just like things happen everywhere in contributing post or in the world of guest blogging). He hesitated for a few seconds and then replied, oh yes "Hum Koshish Karen gay jitnee courtesy day sakain aapko".

By that time, I was really happy that my blogging voice was going so far that MSN Pakistan approached me itself. I asked for the procedure of submitting an article to him. He told me, "we have a backup site where we first accept the submissions, then later on we feature the stories onto MSN portal."

I said okay fine, please tell me where can I send my articles? He said we will give you login details and after logging in you will submit your article in the system. The site and login details he gave me was for the website Statetimes.net . I tried to check the credibility of States times, it had the ALEXA RANK of 1,000,000 something (that depicts that portal is not popular and hardly get 500 visits a day).

I logged in to the system, it was on a WordPress CMS that I had been using since 2007-08. I then started to take a look at the stories of that news portal. Clicked on Entertainment section and to my shock, my own blog posts and that of my publication, Pakium were copied there DITTO. I was like WTF, how can they do this without my consent. I was boiling like a cooker on this deceiving behavior of him.

"How can the guy, who just called me, can do such thing to me ? So, he pulled my content first and then picked my number from Advertise page and convinced me to Write for him"

How can an A-hole copy my own written stuff and then can expect and contact me to write for him.

Under my articles on Statestime, the name of that Lier was written. Mr. H

I was deeply shattered on this act of Mr. H. I just sent him an email:

Mr. H,

You should not LIE while expanding your business and making new contacts in Industry. You have been ripping content off from our site without any permission and courtesy. You also said that you belong to MSN Pakistan. This is extremely unethical ! and I can’t believe our own people can go to such low standards.

Kindly remove the following two posts and other that you have ripped from our blog:

http://www.statestimes.net/2012/02/geo-films-to-release-%E2%80%98london-paris-new-york%E2%80%99-in-pakistan/

http://www.statestimes.net/2012/02/riya-sen-and-veena-malik-are-love-rivals/

Else, I will be notifying to the Editors of Hindustan Times, Times Of India, Pakistan Today and all other publications, whose content has been plagiarized on StatesTimes.

I hope to see some quick progress in this regard.

Thanks.

Regards,

Danish Mughal

The guy could not reply or call me back on this, But he did show somehow show dignity by pulling off the content that I had requested to remove.

( Note: It all happened almost four days ago , today when I visited PK.MSN.COM It shattered me again as another popular post of ours was topping on MSN Pakistan portal in "Most Viewed Posts" section and Pakium was given NO CREDITS AT ALL for its write-up)

This post is continued and the next post is gonna completely expose the folks at MSN Pakistan with “Proofs” Stay Tuned on our facebook page . You can also tweet me your comments/question on @unodanish

Updated: Here is the next post with Proof: MSN PAKISTAN steals content from Pakistani Blogs/Bloggers

Noori is Back with Something New and Different in Their Latest Album

Posted: 20 Feb 2012 05:36 AM PST

By

After a long musical hiatus, the band Noori has decided to get back on the music track with a new song 'Taaron se Agay'. They have been separated since 2005. The Band is now planning to launch its new album after their concert held at the IBA Main Campus in Karachi on February 19, Sunday. They have promised to give their fans something of a new flavor from them this time.

Noori Band news line up with Faraz Anwar and Zeeshan Pervaiz

There are other musical talents who have featured in on this album, with guitar maestro Faraz Anwar from Mizraab and the musician/Video producer and director, Zeeshan Parwez making into it. The band Noori is expected to perform in Islamabad at Rock Musicarium on February 25th. This performance will also be released as Pakistan's first Live Concert CD.

What is different about this album is that Ali Hamza has sung most of the songs on it instead of the band's former lead vocalist, his brother Ali Noor. Ali Noor explains the reason for not being on the front this time saying:

"I was losing my focus as a musician and watching Hamza and Gumby take the front seat in the next album is helping me evolve myself."

During an interview with the Express Tribune, Ali Noor also said:

"Fans need to realise that we, as a band, are on an evolutionary journey and that they will have to remain as open-hearted to us as we have been to them."

Ali Zafar is also full of praises for Ali Hamza expressing his recognition by saying:

"Ali Hamza is one of the very few artists who have managed to sustain his innocence, sincerity and simplicity towards music."

Ali Noor has also promised his fellow band-members that they will from now on make music together or never. Gumby, the band's drummer, told during an interview that:

"I inquired about the future of Noori to which Noor answered, 'From now on, we make music together or we don't make music at all'."

Though their comeback has been much welcomed, but their new song has received mixed response with some missing the old Noori sound to it. To explain the further surprises the fans may get, Ali Hamza said:

"After the folksy 'Aik Alif' and other musical fusions that we have made, we are no longer restricted to one genre hence we can't really classify our upcoming tracks."

But their music has received a warm response from India during their first-ever performance tour there. Ali Hamza shares their experience saying:

"We respect the mutual lineage we share with the Indians, which is why when we went there to perform we tried to make it more than just business and commerce."

They have been offered by Bollywood to sing, but so far, they have decided not to be on the same train to Bollywood music and movies. Ali Noor explains their decision to stay away saying:

"The fact that Bollywood is so high-end and there is no room for mistakes struck me hard. Frankly speaking, I don't think I am ready for that right now."

Meera’s Psychological Thriller ‘5 Ghantey Mien 5 Crore’ Releasing March 16

Posted: 20 Feb 2012 05:28 AM PST

Amidst the announcement of getting engaged and then denial of it and then confirmation and then uncertainty as to when the marriage will eventually take place, one thing that Meera has been definite about is of being retired from Lollywood. It seems like things have been done in a hurry by her, because while she has perfectly planned to retire and get settled in life, some of her work is still left to be completed complying with her commitments for them.

One of the projects on which she just finished her work is her new Indian psychological thriller film 5 Ghantey Mien 5 Crore. The film is in post-production now and will be released on March 16th, which is a delayed date as it was earlier supposed to be in theatres by February 24th. The film has been directed by Faisal Saif who said:

"We had to delay it as couple of different issues came up together. The main reason was actually the Board Exams that are currently being held here in India but the finishing work on the prints is also not complete and they will arrive somewhere around the end of this month from US."

The film will be released in India, Pakistan, the UK and the U.S. simultaneously, but for UAE and Germany distributors are still be sought for. There is yet another project, which will perhaps be the last film of Meera that is still awaiting release, Om Allah.
