Pakistani Voice Actors Dub in Urdu for Iranian Television Productions Posted: 09 Feb 2012 03:25 AM PST According to a report in Tehran Times, a group of professionally trained Pakistani voice actors have been asked to dub for an Iranian TV series 'The House without Birds' and two telefilms 'Bitter Soup' and 'Main Principle'. The House without Birds is a 32-part family melodrama that was aired on the Tehran Channel. Bitter Soup is produced by Channel Two and it tells of police operations hunting down drug traffickers. Main Principle is about a financial partnership of two friends one of whom is killed during a struggle. These projects will be broadcast by the Urdu service of Sahar, an international Iranian TV network, and will be shown here in Pakistan through satellite. According to the head of the Urdu department of Sahar TV, Davud Eskandari, Sahar TV has different dubbing groups in Tehran, Qom, Mumbai and Karachi that consist of veteran voice actors. A new group is also being formed in Zahedan. This shows that Iranian television channels are bound to have their reach broadened by getting their programs dubbed in foreign languages, especially in Urdu. Pakistanis do appreciate the cultural value and aesthetics of Persian literature and art. Read more at: Pakistani Voice Actors Dub in Urdu for Iranian Television Productions |
Syed Noor Suggests Lollywood Should Sign a Contract with Iranian Film Industry Posted: 09 Feb 2012 03:18 AM PST Syed Noor is a well-known film director of Pakistan. He often talks about improving the film industry and how Pakistan can better project its cinema internationally. This time, he suggested in an interview that Pakistan should sign a contract with Iranian film industry, which has international repute and makes films of all kinds that cater to tastes of large entertainment-oriented masses. He said that he had released his film Hum Aik Hain in Iran and it was included in the Iranian Film Festival (IFF). Syed Noor said:
Being a neighbouring country does not in itself make a neighbour-state responsible for improving a country's film industry. In Pakistan's case, none of its neigbhouring countries can do anything regarding the state of Lollywood unless Pakistani filmmakers and Pakistani acting talent takes charge to make a change in the on-going downward trend of making cheap movies. There are exceptions however in Shoaib Mansoor and Mehreen Jabbar. The audiences in Pakistan are tired of watching such low-budget and pathetic movies that they have casually turned to the entertainment industries and products of the neighbouring countries, especially India, to fulfill their appetite for better entertainment. Though, Indian film industry does not give the best of products, but still it is way better developed and equipped than its Pakistani counterpart. What Pakistani government can do is to provide proper budget support for something that can not only give talent a chance, but also respectable livelihood, and in the process soften Pakistan's image internationally. Atiqa Odho Intends to Run in the General Elections from Karachi Posted: 09 Feb 2012 03:14 AM PST Atiqa Odho is already renowned for her acting in various Pakistani television dramas for more than a decade. Now she intends to enter another arena of social life, rather social service, and that is to contest election from Karachi to become a politician. Essentially, social service is what politicians ought to do. But that lesson has been forgotten long ago. Atiqa is a member of All Pakistan Muslim League, which was formerly headed by the ex-President and military dictator Pervez Musharraf. She disappeared from the scene and kept low due to her case of illegally carrying two bottles of wine, which is still on-going in court. Atiqa is committed to her political party and cannot even think about ever changing sides for any reason. In the beginning most politicians do appear this determined about how they view their self within a party and their future with a party, but it often does change as has been seen time and again with many other politicians. It seems though that politics is about changing parties, rather than fulfilling a party's high-sounding promises of serving the nation. Atiqa gave her interview to a local Urdu daily Nai Bat and said she intends to participate in the general elections but it would finally be decided by the party leadership. Relying on a party's leadership this early on in a political career is something on which depends rest of the days in politics. Atiqa seems quite willing to be taken on and guided through every step. Atiqa thinks that Pervez Musharraf led the country on the way to prosperity and had he been given more time, Pakistan would have been prosperous. In her own words, she said:
But in governance, more than having guts, it takes wisdom and right timing to make a move in interest of public that really matters before making selfish gains. May be in Pakistani politics, guts is all that matters which can stir the opposition to their boots. Change for the people of Pakistan is what governance stands for today, which is not being done. This is why, there are only politicians and no statesmen to lead this nation. Read more at: Atiqa Odho Intends to Run in the General Elections from Karachi |

Buying a Guitar DOES NOT make you a Musician Posted: 08 Feb 2012 10:22 AM PST By Guest Author Since many music artists such as Atif Aslam, Jal and Roxen, came into the limelight in recent years, our youth got inspired by them more than anything. Starting from how they dress up to how they talk, our Youth is copying that sort too vigorously and the only thing, they see in them is – GUITARS. Well, if we talk about Youth, they just need an entry to be followed and same happened with this trend, which I would like to term as "Guitar Trend". In Karachi or Lahore, if I particularly talk about, music was always loved, and was appreciated, but this trend is generally ruining the real taste and flavour of music. We all know that we have that sort of people around us, who at least have one Guitar, and they know they cannot play it, they even know they don’t want to learn that, and they also know that they cannot pursue it, but still – they have one. WHY? There are many basic points which I personally think, compels them to get a guitar. The reasons are as follows: 1- Pretend to be a “KEWL” Guy:They generally buy guitars just to pretend, and to act that they are different. You see, an act of being cool or should I say K3wL. Well, nobody becomes Buckethead or Slash by just investing ten thousand or more on a guitar, you have to give it time and determination, for music, you should be passionate. 2- To impress and Attract Girls:They buy guitars to attract girls, and to have display pictures, which according to them are TRENDY and FASHIONABLE and girls would die for them. Well, it's not the case. You cannot hunt girls, by just carrying a guitar and posting your pictures with them on Facebook, Twitter or Myspace. 3- To pose as some one different from others:To differentiate themselves from one another. Our youth loves being termed as "Musician" and "composer" so yes, I personally think, they have this thing in mind that if they own a guitar, people would love them, and would call them a Musician, or a Music producer. 4- Confused as to where to spend their money:They're confused, and wrecked. Seriously yes, they don't even know why and what they're buying. They don't know which scales should be used, which company/brand is better, they JUST HAVE TO GET IT. 5- To experience that “Celebrity Feeling”:To get popularity, and fame among the circle they socialize, or that school/college/university they are in. Youth always loves fame/ and that "CELEBRITY Feeling" thing. To sum up, I just have a request for all these sort of cool boys around us, that if they're concerned about music, they should be passionate. Salman Ahmed, Faraz Anwer, Slash, Buckethead, Kurt Cobain, they never made any accounts, posting pictures of them carrying a guitar. Music is a built-in product in your mind. And if you really want to be a musician, you have to devote your entire life to it because, music does not depend upon guitars ONLY because it has a completely different definition to it. People only will criticize you if you have a guitar, until and unless, you don't consider music as your top priority. If you love music, GO for it, search for it and study it. Make it your degree and your life, but if you don't want to do it seriously, for the sake of those reasons which I mentioned, please don't ruin the essence of melodies and music. P.S: Having a guitar DOES NOT make you a Musician. This blog post was originally written by Danial Shahid and published on his blog here Read more at: Buying a Guitar DOES NOT make you a Musician |

Guitarist Asad Ahmed to Release His Own Solo Album Posted: 08 Feb 2012 03:18 AM PST Music lovers remember Asad Ahmed from the rock band Karavan, which no longer exists. He was previously also the member of the pop group Awaz. He has also worked with Vital Signs and Junoon. It has been almost 25 years for him in the Pakistani music industry as he started his career back in 1987. Back then he was with the band called The Barbarians. He also collaborated with such singers as Ali Haider, Najam Sheraz, Haroon, Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Sajjad Ali, all of them successful and renowned for their work. Now, Asad is a house band member in Coke Studio sessions. Recently, he has also worked with Ali Zafar for his musical composition in London, Paris, New York. One wonders, if he is that talented and demanded to have worked with leading bands and singers, why does not he start on his own. Well, the time to think that has finished, because Asad Ahmed has already embarked on making this move. He is reportedly releasing his own solo album. It is being produced by Asad himself and will consist of songs and not just instrumental music. Other singers also said to have been involved with this new album. Only this much has been revealed that there will be ten songs on the album, seven sung by Asad and the rest by guest singers. The reason to put English songs is obviously to attract the European market. They have also been composed by Asad himself. He explains saying:
