Noori – Taaron Se Agay (KM Single Review) Posted: 13 Feb 2012 09:23 AM PST By Hasan Faridi The teaser of "Taaron Se Aagay" has had more than 5000 plays on Soundcloud to date. The full-length single however, has more than 200 on its first day of release. Expect it to grow, as Noori take you to their world. You may all recognise it as – Nooriworld. Noori ('light' in Urdu) is a pop/rock band from Lahore (Pakistan) and formed in 1996. Regarded as one of the prominent pioneering forces that shaped Pakistani music in the modern era, Noori have captured the hearts and minds of nearly every single music-lover in the country. The band has released two albums that played a great deal to their success. One was "Suno Ke Main Hun Jawan" in 2003 and "Peeli Patti Aur Raja Jani Ki Gol Dunya" in 2005 (get your tongue twisted pronouncing the last album name). We normally see an end of Pakistani artists and bands after two albums, but Noori kept going and gained some achievements along the way. Noori won the Award for the Best Rock Song for "Do Dil" at the MTV Music Awards, won the "Best Rock Song Category" Award for "Nishaan" in the Indus Music Awards, and was also selected as the "Picked Artist Of The Month" on Pakistani channel The Musik. This isn’t even everything. Noori also took part in Coke Studio, a Pakistani television series aiming to broadcast and highlight musical talent within the Pakistani music industry. Songs such as "Kedaar" and "Saari Raat" have been greatly received. "Taaron Se Aagay" starts off with a pace, and Nooriworld begins to set itself up. Like almost every song off their discography, the song has the power to stay within the skull. Likewise, the addictive chorus displays some Pak-Indo influence, with some dhol hitting in the background as Ali Noor and Ali Hamza sing away. The two swift guitar solos, as cool as they are, are opportunities for guitar-players to upload their covers on Youtube. It has happened with previous songs, and it may well happen again. Everything about this song brings us back into the days when Noori were emerging stars, who played on-stage with their singles like "Dobara Phir Se" and "Dil Ki Qasam". Still mixing the style of pop punk and Middle-Eastern melodies, it is a song which contemporaries and old-school fans can both jump around to. With what seemed like a step back from the limelight, Noori have brought back the music that enthralled Pakistani's around the country back in the good old days. We can only imagine what the future holds. 'Taaron' means 'stars'. And we all know that stars have long life spans. Without a doubt, Noori are the stars.
