An Emerging Singing Talent of Pakistan Abroad Posted: 08 Jan 2012 05:22 AM PST Jibran Raheel with A. R. Rahman Recently a talent hunt competition "Sing Like a Star With A. R. Rahman" was held in Dubai where out of 400 participants ten were selected to sing alongside A. R. Rahman for his recent Dubai concert which was held at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Sports City on December 9. At the concert, Rahman sang all of his musical hits from his career along with other musicians of international repute. These selected would-be singers sang A. R. Rahman's Phir Se Udd Chala from Rockstar during their selection process. The first place winner was 23-year-old Dubai based office worker in a local courier company, Jibran Raheel. It was a dream came true for this young aspiring artist who had been in Dubai since past nine months. He expressed: "I am stunned. I work in a sales department, a desk job, but I've always wanted to be a singer. This is the best beginning I can get. I forgot some of the lines but I still kept going." But this new talent has confidence in his singing abilities and nothing can deter him to express them. He said, "I had a feeling I might win when I went in for the contest. But the competition was tough. Seriously, it is a strange feeling to have won this, and it is yet to sink in." He is a quick learner as he had just one night to practice the song he was expected to perform in order to be selected for this big chance. He was in for a thrill since the beginning and he had no idea about the details of the final show for which he was trying out his luck, but had a desire to share his singing talent with his musical idol, A. R. Rahman. He said, "I just went in to try my luck. I am a big fan of A R Rahman, so am looking forward to performing with him, though I don't have the details of the final show yet." We will cover more about him in an exclusive interview very soon. So look out for this new emerging star on the horizon of Pakistan's musical heavens.
