Abida Perveen who is known for her Sufi style, and Runa Laila who started her career from Karachi and now lives in Bangladesh, will also be judging the Indian Reality TV Show Sur Kshetra. The show's format include two teams of singers; one from Pakistan and other from India. Furthermore, Atif Aslam and Himesh Reshamiya are going to be the captain of two teams respectively. The preparations are all done and captains are almost ready to make their team which would be contingent on Pakistan's and India's best singers. The show is going to be on air from January, 2012. The different thing about this show is that Dubai is venue for Sur Kshetra and its Finale will be organized in a European country. So, if you think you can sing well, then here is the best chance. The auditions are being taken in different cities of both the countries. The one such audition we know was recently held in Karachi, in which Atif Aslam himself took the audition of the young talented singers. |
Atif Aslam joins Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf (PTI) ??? Posted: 03 Jan 2012 11:27 AM PST It all started when a rockstar Ali Azmat was first spotted on a stage of a political sit-in. Soon after this we saw the band Strings performing their patriotic song in a historical PTI Jalsa in Lahore. Then, renowned bhangra singer and philanthropist announced not only his support for the party, but he vowed to join PTI as a political worker. As of yet, many other musicians and bands have showed their support for Imran Khan’s political party PTI and if we have to believe the rumors, Atif Aslam too is planning to support Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaaf. The cyber space is buzzing today with the rumors that Atif Aslam is to join PTI. The rumor, first reported on PlayTV’s website, is being pressed right now on various other online publications without any verification. When we tried to confirm this with our sources, we didn’t get an affirmative answer. The source however quipped:
It also looks like a remote possibility as Atif Aslam is on the peak of his career and busy with mega projects like Indian Reality Show Sur kShetra and Sonic Peacemakers Project. Either joining the party or get into the ground to support a political party can take him away from his actual fan following, who loves his songs and not the speech! |
Subcontinent’s Musical Legend Nashad’s Death Anniversary is Being Celebrated Today Posted: 03 Jan 2012 05:29 AM PST The musical legend Nashad is being remembered today on the occasion of his 31st death anniversary according to a report on SAMAA's website. He was a renowned composer of music who worked for both Bollywood and Lollywood. His music is now a classic that young aspiring composers can look up to. He has amused both his critics and his fans to a good taste in music which is a rarer gem to have in one's abilities. Born in Delhi, India in 1923 on July 11, he learned to play flute at an early age. He moved to Bombay as it was then known to the heart of the Indian film industry to give his musical talent to films. He used a pseudonym when he debuted as Shaukat Dehelvi composing music for the action film, Dildaar in 1947. Then he used the name Shaukat Husain to compose for the 1948 film Jeenay Do. The name change occurred again and this time he used the name Shaukat Ali to compose for the film Payal, also made in 1948. The name change went back and forth from the surname being Dehelvi for some films to Husain. Then in 1949, he composed under the name of Shaukat Husain Haideri for the film Dada. Finally, in 1953 the director Nakshab changed his name permanently from Shaukat Ali to Nashad and he became famous for his work under this name. His last Indian film was Flying Man in 1962 and then he migrated to Pakistan. He worked for Maikhana in 1964 as a musician and composed music for more than 60 Pakistani films till his death on January 14, 1981. He is known for the music he gave in 1960s and 1970s for Pakistani films. His wife was an Indian and he had eight sons and seven daughters. Six of his sons are into music, three of them are composers and two of them are singers. One of them is a cricketer and the other a supervisor. Nashad famously composed music for such films as Baradari, Zindagi Ya Toofan, Azmat, Aik Raat, Tum Mile Pyar Mila, Salgirah, Bandagi, Rim Jhim. |
Lahore Court Issues Warrant against Overload’s Former Band Members, Meesha and Mahmood Posted: 03 Jan 2012 05:20 AM PST Meesha Shafi and Mahmood Rahman are both in trouble for allegations against stealing equipment from Farhad Humayun's studio, what some online sources say is probably a vocal processor. The Lahore court has even issued a warrant on Monday against these two former-members of Overload. However, Mahmood is in denial of any such legal action against the two of them saying, "The report is completely false". Some sources, however, say that they have confessed to their guilt of doing such an act. Farhad still maintains that this is the case, but he would not like to make a big fuss out of fear of giving bad reputation to Overload's former band members. Despite apparently showing a soft corner for Meesha and Mahmood, he used strong words saying:
The reason the band split up over a year ago in the first place was due to disagreements between Farhad, the band's drummer and Meesha, the lead vocalist and Mahmood, the lead guitarist over personal and creative differences. Now they have taken their feuds to new level of legal action. Already there is an infringement claims by Meesha Shafi against Overload copying her song "Dhol Bajay Ga" without her prior consent. To settle things strictly, Meesha got a restraining order against Farhad from the court. However, the song is considered to be the property of Overload for they released it under their banner despite it being owned by Meesha legally or at least creatively. Hence, it is a joint-property of both. The creative and intellectual property rights have a long way to go for development in Pakistani music industry. The story has another twist in it, that being about the ownership of the claimed stolen object. It has been reported that particular vocal processor actually belongs to Meesha who brought it Farhad's studio when she was still part of the team of Overload. One cannot steal something that already belongs to him or her. In this way, Meesha and Mahmood are in no way "criminals" as put in words by Farhad. The matter should further be investigated properly as to who is the rightful owner of the stolen equipment in question. Never the less, the warrant has indeed been issued and now there is in fact a criminal record against Meesha and Mahmood. The former is currently in India for shooting her new movie. Meesha is also playing a role in Paktisan’s most anticipated feature film “Waar”. |
