Fawad Khan Endorses Telenor TalkShawk

Posted: 28 Jan 2012 07:55 PM PST

Well, well, well. Look who’s gotten hold and made use of a great opportunity – Telenor. The recent advertisement for Telenor TalkShawk shows Fawad Khan (yes, the recent heartthrob of the Pakistani women) as the ambassador for TalkShawk. Fawad Khan’s become quite a star due to his recent work in a couple of television serials, specially ‘Humsafar‘.

Fawad Afzal Khan is known as a renowned Pakistani actor, singer and a model. He started his acting career by working in a comedy serial ‘Jutt and Bond’ and found fame at quite an early age – 22 years. This was the time when Fawad Khan and his friend Ahmed Ali Butt (also his co-star in the serial) started their band, EP (Entity Paradigm) but it was in the year 2002 when the band had it’s first performance, live, at the Race Course Park Lahore. Even after forming the band, Khan continued acting in various serials such as ‘Dil Dey Kay Jayein Gey’ (2000), ‘Satrangi’ (2008), ‘Jeevan Ki Rahoon Mei’ (2009), ‘Daastaan‘ (2010), ‘Akbari Asghari’ (2010), and the most watched ‘Humsafar’ (2011). But he’s most famous for working in Shoaib Mansoor‘s film, ‘Khuda Kay Liye‘ (2007) which gave a great boost to his acting career; landing him in more television serials.

His continuity with acting shows that he was always inclined towards acting and favoured it more than singing. We’ve seen him in a few television commercials for companies like Mobilink, Pepsi and Olpers. But his recent link with Telenor TalkShawk might be the next big thing in his life, especially as an actor if we see how Ali Zafar, the former Telenor TalkShawk ambassador, got known and landed at Bollywood. Would Khan be the next Pakistani actor Bollywood would grab? Maybe he wants to follow the steps of Ali Zafar and gain fame not only in Pakistan but across the borders too. As he said in an interview when asked if whether or not he’ll step into Bollywood, “I will only go for it if it [Bollywood movie] is based on a quality project. Otherwise, Pakistan is my first priority, and I love working for my country.”  Seems like Fawad takes acting more seriously than singing and definitely wants to be an actor.

Ali Zafar & Aditi Rao Talk About The 3 Cities ‘London, Paris & New York’ (Videos)

Posted: 28 Jan 2012 03:30 PM PST

London Paris New York is a film that captures the angst of the twenties, the most dramatic period of one’s life – when you have to find a career; you have your first significant relationship and most importantly form your identity in this world.

This is story about Lalitha (Aditi Rao Hydari), a middle class south Indian girl from Chembur (an eastern suburb in mumbai) who is on her way to New York to study politics with full scholarship, and Nikhil (Ali Zafar), a punjabi, rich kid from Bandra (a posh western suburb of Mumbai – read new money) who is going to study Film Making in London on 100% dad’s money. They decide to hangout together one evening in London and find that they are completely drawn to each other even as their future lies on separate continents.

The film follows their personal journey and their love story as they meet in London, Paris and New York for a night each over eight years. The film is in three chapters and each chapter will be shot in a manner that mirrors the mental state of Nikhil and Lalitha.

The three bridges on the three rivers – Thames, Seine and Hudson witness the three states of love.

Music is integral to the film and takes form according to the moods. The three cities also give a dramatic canvas to create different exciting themes. Pop-Romance in London. Electronic Sufi in Paris. Blues-rap in New York. Blended in with Indian true Bollywood style.

The dialogues are natural and fresh and you get a sense that you are eavesdropping on these two characters. The film is romantic but not sentimental in the least. Even though there are discussing a lot of meaningful stuff, the film is always underpinned by humour – it never gets heavy handed or preachy.

Sur Kshetra and the Controversies Attached to It

Posted: 28 Jan 2012 02:09 PM PST

There have been quite a lot of controversies about the upcoming television show Sur Kshetra also known as Sur Ki Baazi in Pakistan even before the show has actually begun. The recent one being about what seem to be “fake auditions” as held by Geo TV.

I think Geo is becoming a disliked TV channel. First because the way it sensationalizes news and now what seems to be a scam as money has been raised by the channel for what hasn’t been delivered.

The promos of “Sur Ki Baazi” were aired very enthusiastically on GEO TV catching the attention of many people who wanted a platform and a chance to sing and prove their skills. But according to a source who made it to both the auditions (yes there were two of them), the auditions which were to be held on the 17th and 18th of January according to the promos, were actually fake as the real auditions were held early at Planet X in Islamabad.

According to a reliable source, Ustad Rustam Ali Khan took the auditions and apparently the ARY team covered it as a VJ from that channel, VJ Shahzad was present there with the entire ARY crew.

Why were the auditions for a program reserved for Geo TV shot by ARY’s team? Quite unsure but apparently that’s how it went as the selected candidates were shortlisted based on those auditions and even flew to Dubai on the 13th of January, even before the dates of auditions as aired by Geo.

For the people to register themselves for the auditions, they were asked to text on a number provided by the channel costing 15rs per SMS. Some participants with keen interest in music also flew from Middle East to appear for the auditions as mentioned by someone who made it to the auditions.

Since the team was already sent to Dubai on the 13th of January, I don’t quite understand what exactly was the second audition for? And if not for anything, why were those charged who appeared for the auditions?
