They write their own songs and also rework existing melodies of Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. Zeb and Haniya’s songs are set to music influenced by the classical tradition of the Indian subcontinent, Latin and west African grooves, American folk and blues, and their lyrics are poignant, soulful, and emotive. Their latest recordings have included songs in Turkish, Dari, and Pushto. The Music Project is a series of video portraits, documenting independent music in the country. The idea is small, intimate, and features exclusively performed music tracks, performed LIVE and shot in ONE take. To take musicians outside of studio spaces and to record wholly raw, acoustic, unplugged sounds.
